Los Angeles County California Sheriff Department The Sheriff Dept provides general law enforcement services to unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County, as well as the 40 incorporated cities within the county that have contracted services with the Sheriff Dept. The other cities in the county either have their own police departments or contact out to other nearby police agencies. The sheriff department provides court and jail services in the county. The department provides contract service to transit agencies Los Angeles MTA and the Metrolink. The Sheriff Dept operates several helicopters, some for police patrol work, and others for technical air rescue and search and rescue services. The Sheriff Dept also has ground search and rescue and mountain rescue units. The dept also has SWAT, K-9, detective and several other specialized units. Los Angeles County Sheriff Department is the largest sheriff's department in the world. |
