| The US Secret Service provides protection for the US President, the President's family, the Vice President, former presidents, visiting foreign heads of state, and other protected persons. The Secret Service used various types of vehicles for their protection services. Most of the protection vehicles are armored SUVs. Some of the SUVs are motorcade escort vehicles, some are used as extraction vehicles, while other SUVs are used to transport the protected individual when use of a limousine is not feasible. The Secret Service keeps vehicles stationed at many different locations across the United States, while the vehicles used for protecting the President are often flown aboard military cargo planes to worldwide locations for presidential trips. The vehicles used for protecting the President normally wear Washington DC or Maryland license plates, while the other vehicles assigned in other parts of the country wear license plates of the states they are stationed in so as to help maintain a lower profile. | ||

Cadillac This car was used by the Presidential Protection Division. It was the car the was directly behind President Kennedy's limo at the assassination in Dallas on November 22,1963. The car had been specially built for the Secret Service. The car was equipped with siren, red light, built in gun rack, running boards, and other features. It was in service during the terms of Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy and Johnson. |
