1992-1993 Chevrolet Lumina  PPV & SSV
The retail Chevrolet Lumina was released as an early 1990 model in 1989.  The mid-sized, front wheel drive Lumina was Chevrolet's competitor to the very popular Ford Taurus. A Lumina Special Service package became available for police use in 1992.  The 1992 Lumina B4C Special Service Package used a 3.1 V-6 with 140 hp. It was based on the retail Chevrolet Lumina Euro 3.1, with that car's sport suspension, but added extra oil coolers for the engine and different wheel covers. (1) For 1993, Chevrolet continued to offer the Lumina B4C Special Service Package, but also added a the Lumina 9C3 Police Package to the line up. Both were powered by the same 3.1 V-6 with 140 hp, had the same suspension, and heavy duty alternators and batteries. The main difference in the two versions was that the 9C3 Police Package had upgraded tires and Recaro front bucket seats standard, both available options for the B4C Special Service Package.(2) With an all new Lumina being readied for model year 1995, Chevrolet did not offer the Lumina in a police package or special service package for 1994.
