Special Investigations Unit Ontario, Canada Special Investigations Unit is an independent, civilian law enforcement agency that investigates incidents that involve police officers. The Unit acts as an oversight agency to independently investigate actions taken by municipal, regional, or provincial police officers involved in situations that may have involved death, serious injury, or alleged sexual assault.
