2001-2006 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV & SSV An all new Chevrolet Tahoe was introduced for the 2000 model year. For 2001 Chevrolet built a few Special Service Package Tahoes. For 2002 it became a regular offering as a Police Special Service Package Vehicle. For 2005, Chevrolet brought back the full police package for the 2wd Tahoe. Chevrolet refers to the new police package Tahoe as the Tahoe PPV, or Police Pursuit Vehicle. It is designed for police work up to and including high speed emergency vehcile operations. It is equiped with a 285 hp, 5.3L Vortec V8.
